BRG seeks a full-time, experienced Tax Manager for its Emeryville office. The Tax Manager will report directly to the Assistant Controller. The candidate must be flexible and highly committed to quality, customer service, teamwork and supporting firm and department goals in a fast-paced environment.

BRG is headquartered in Emeryville, California, with 41 offices across the United States and in Australia, Canada, Latin America, and the United Kingdom. This position offers advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing expert services and consulting firm.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the tax functions for the Company including foreign entities and US subsidiaries
  • Ownership for tax and equity related accounts and balances and maintenance of Member listing and activities
  • Compilation and review of workpapers and documents for quarterly estimates and withholding and responding timely to follow-up questions
  • Ownership for coordinating smooth process from beginning to end associated with Composite election booklets
  • Manage annual tax returns for US and foreign entities
  • Compilation and review of monthly, quarterly or annual sales, rent, payroll, excise and commerce tax filing ensuring appropriate computation and timely submission and payment, as applicable
  • Review and finalize other filings including compilation of information to properly and timely update forms and file quarterly or annually, as applicable (i.e. property tax assessments, business license, annual report, etc.)
  • Ownership for periodic computation of tax provision (per ASC 740-10) including year-end true-up, related memo and tax footnote disclosures for the annual audit
  • Manage P11D submission
  • Oversight of permanent files such as entity ID and organizational documents
  • Identification of new states and new subsidiaries where we do business and timely filing of required forms (i.e. 8832)
  • Full understanding of intercompany activities for proper reporting (Parent Company and subsidiaries)
  • Regular upkeep of tax items (i.e. address notices from states, monitor tax rates, filing requirements and apportionment, etc.)
  • Maintenance of compliance reporting, tax filing and payment deadlines by entity
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures ensuring adequate internal controls and proper documentation related to tax and equity activities
  • Assist with the proper classification of payments made to Members that are not employees of the Company for timely compilation and completion of 1099 process at year-end
  • Compilation and review of tax and equity related workpapers for periodic external audits
  • Assist with the compilation of annual tax budgets
  • Coordinate the information flow associated with Members as it relates to taxable earnings and payroll deductions for proper reporting and timely processing
  • Continue to streamline processes and identify tools to manage Member activities better and enhance distribution of information and notices
  • Manage special/ ad-hoc projects
  • Contributing to the organization in a professional manner with a positive attitude

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, MA in tax preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Prior experience in a multistate tax position
  • Practical accounting experience required
  • Strong 10 key and keyboard skills
  • Proficient in MS Office. Advanced skills in Excel
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Committed to quality customer service (internal and external)
  • Consistent attendance and reliability
