    The Senior Managing Consultant (SMC) position is a senior-level consulting staff position. This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with solid analytical ability, strong organizational and communication skills, and a desire to advance within the organization. The work of the SMC will involve both execution and oversight of engagement work streams that may be either qualitative or quantitative in nature. Responsibilities include: management of junior staff, facilitating work product from senior staff, expert analysis of healthcare policy and healthcare markets, quality control, development and presentation of client deliverables, management of existing client relationships, industry research, and expansion of business.

     

    This position will be part of the growing Private Equity Financial Advisory (PEFA) group within the healthcare community at BRG. PEFA works with a range of private investor’s and companies to help them evaluate the potential impact of regulatory, reimbursement and market risk in healthcare. PEFA also facilitates other works streams at BRG as part of its practice, most significantly Data Analytics and Compliance. While the majority the PEFA practice work is focused on the buy-side of healthcare focused Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) transactions and consist of short term projects we also are involved on discreet projects involving probe compliance audits, investigations and disputes as well as performance improvement and strategy projects.

     

    Headquartered in Emeryville, California, BRG currently has over 40 offices across the United States and internationally. This position offers advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing expert services and consulting firm.

    Responsibilities

    • Plan and manage client engagements and discreet segments of larger projects.
    • Ability to manage tight deadlines as well as multiple deadlines at once while working remotely with various team members.
    • Delegate assignments to staff, instruct and monitor progress, and review work product for completeness and accuracy.
    • Generate client deliverables and make valuable contributions to diligence projects.
    • Execute on selling opportunities with current Clients.
    • Manage client relationships and communicate results and work product as appropriate. This includes:
      • Initiating project work to ensure expectations are understood both from the client and BRG project team;
      • Updating client and responding to client inquiries throughout an engagement;
      • Working with PEFA team and broader BRG to comprehensively answer client questions, following up with client after project delivery and ensuring the matter is billed properly.
    • Demonstrate healthcare policy expertise and healthcare industry expertise.
    • Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, and analytical methods. 
    • Participate in group practice meetings, contribute to business development initiatives and office functions such as staff training and recruiting.
    • Prioritize assignments and responsibilities in order to meet goals and deadlines.

    Qualifications

    • A degree (e.g., BS, BBA, MBA, M.A., M.S., etc.) with a focus in healthcare or business (accounting, finance, economics, information systems) or equivalent senior level experience in the healthcare industry.
      • Health plan or healthcare provider operations experience a plus.
      • Experience with Medicare Part A and B payment systems and/or Medicaid also a plus.
      • Clinical coding certification / experience a plus.
      • Data analytics training and experience a plus.
    • 7 to 15+ years combination of work experience and education in a healthcare related field.
    • Background must include either healthcare operational experience with providers and/or health plans or a healthcare policy background. 
      • Ideal experience includes some leadership roles in operations, compliance and/or consulting.
    • Proven capability with MS Excel and MS Powerpoint.
    • Project management and/or management experience in healthcare.
      • Previous experience managing client relationship a plus.
    • Desire and ability to manage processes and other consultants.
    • Commitment to producing high quality analysis and attention to details.
    • Keen interest in healthcare policy and healthcare industry and research. 
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Desire and ability to work well within a team environment.
