    The Managing Consultant position is a mid-level consulting staff position.  This position requires a highly motivated clinical problem solver with solid analytical ability, strong communication and organizational skills, and a desire to advance within the organization. The work of a Managing Consultant will involve both execution and oversight of work products.


    The Managing Consultant position is specifically for the Clinical Economics practice. BRG’s experience in clinical economics includes healthcare reform, value-based reimbursement, managed care services, quality improvement, coding and documentation improvement, reimbursement model development, and benchmarking. Our expertise also involves performance improvement, data analytics, quality reporting, avoidable cost and complications analysis, and readmission reduction initiatives.


    The successful applicant for this position will work directly with BRG’s healthcare clients in quality improvement activities, including identification of quality improvement opportunities, data analysis, facilitation of quality improvement teams, interaction with medical staff, front line clinical staff and facility leaders, and aggregation and display of quality improvement data.


    This position will be based out of BRG’s Hunt Valley (Maryland) office, but may include national travel


    • Identify areas of opportunity for clinical and data quality improvement with healthcare clients.
    • Utilizing proven quality improvement tools and skills, organize and lead client workgroups targeted at sustainable improvement.
    • Facilitate relationships with healthcare clients’ clinical stakeholders, including senior leadership, medical staff, clinical leadership and front-line staff.
    • Develop and conduct education sessions on national and local quality methodologies and improvement strategies.
    • Analyze clinical and quality improvement data to identify improvement opportunities and strategy.
    • Delegate assignments to staff, instruct and monitor progress, and review work product for completeness and accuracy.
    • Manage client relationships and communicate results and work product as appropriate.


    • A degree (e.g., BS, BBA, MBA, MHA, etc.) and clinical licensure, for example RN, PA, PT.
    • 3-5 years of work experience in hospital-based quality improvement.
    • Experience leading and implementing quality improvement projects utilizing a variety of quality improvement tools, such as Six Sigma, Lean, PDCA.
    • Competence in statistical analysis, spreadsheet creation, data collection and entry.
    • Proven capability with data analytics tools, such as MS Excel or MS Access.
    • Quality-specific certification preferred, such as CPHQ, Lean Six Sigma, Green or Black Belt.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects under multiple deadlines.
    • Highly professional, energetic and flexible.
    • Commitment to producing high quality analysis and attention to details.
    • Desire to work within a team environment.
